Richard Lovato

1934 ~ 2019

In loving memory of Richard Joseph Lovato, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was born on November 03, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He passed away April 14 2019 due to complications of a fall. He resided at Peachtree Assisted Living and loved living there.

Richard loved spending time with his family. He was very proud of his grandchildren's accomplishments. He adored his great granddaughter and enjoyed spending time with his daughters. He loved going shopping, out to eat or just being around all his family. He enjoyed seeing technical advancements and was learning how to use devices and his new cell phone.
In his employment career he worked in many different occupations. He was known for his occupation as a floor technician in which he stripped, cleaned and maintained flooring surfaces. He was first introduced to this occupation as a teenager when he took over his father's employment. He was also known for his jewelry making, car detailing and pinstriping to customize vehicles.

Richard loved to stay active and worked as a car detailer until he turned 75. The company tried to persuade him to stay and even gave him a large bonus when he finally retired as an appreciation of his hard work. His love of this occupation began when he was in high school and became the president of the Jesters Car Club from 1952-1954. The club would participate in car shows and all of the proceeds went to charities. They also raised money for many charities in the area. Richard owned a 1953 Mercury Monterey, which he completely reconditioned the outside by removing the chrome and refinishing the exterior. He won 5 car shows with this vehicle. Richard loved all types of automobiles. He could look at any vehicle from the 1950s and1960s and knew what the year, make and model was. He often enjoyed looking at vehicles and pointed them out when riding in the car with his daughter.

Richard would speak of his strong belief in god and would often say that he would pray for those he cared about. He loved to serve others and would want to help people even if he was not feeling well.

Richard was captain of the football team at Judge Memorial High school and played the position of running back. He also played baseball and won letters in both baseball and football in high school. He was known to be the first to volunteer for any service projects in school. Richard was a huge Bronco fan, and he loved watching old and new games.

Richard was in the U.S. Army and served 13 months in a Korea tour, 1 year stationed at Fort Ord California and 6 years serving in the reserves.

Dad, you are missed very much. I am grateful to have spent the last few months getting to know you and blossom a new and beautiful relationship with you. I know you are watching over all of us. Thank you for being in our life and teaching us so much. I am looking forward to the time we will meet again.

Richard is survived by his 2 daughters Lori Lovato and Lisa (Lovato) Dowling, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A special thanks to Peachtree staff for making my dad's time living there a really good experience. Also, a thanks to the staff at Mt Ogden Health and Rehab Center for taking excellent care of my dad when he was there. A private family viewing and graveside service will be held.
