Reuel J McPhie will be remembered as a man who lived life to the fullest and never gave up, even at the end.

He was born in Murray, Utah, at the old Cottonwood Hospital on March 26, 1936, to Joseph and Callie McPhie. He died in Midvale, Utah on June 30th, 2017. He graduated from South High School. Competed an LDS Mission to Guatemala. He went on to graduate from the University of Utah. Reuel married Katharyn Cannon on August 31st, 1961. This union produced 4 special daughters, Cheri, Karie, Jill and Marlene. He has 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Reuel had a Bachelors in economics and a Masters in both Business Administration and Public Health. He taught continuing education modules for physicians, nurses, physical therapists and pharmacists at the University of Utah. He was Governor for region 9 of the American College of Health care Administrators. He served on the board of the Utah Nursing Home Administration for 3 years. He owned and operated 4 long term care facilities and operated 9 nursing homes at one time. He also served for many years on the Utah Brain Trauma and Injury Association. After retiring he tried selling real estate and investments, but his love of helping others brought him back into helping the handicapped at Turn Community Services.

The family would like to give a sincere thanks to all his doctors at the University of Utah who took care of him these last few years. Especially Dr Lillian Khor and Dr John Doane. Dad listened to them when he wouldn't listen to anyone else. He new they were the best.
We would also like to thank all the doctors and nurses at The Intermountain Medical Center who gave us the opportunity to spend a bit more time with Dad.
Lastly we want to thank the staff at The Cascade @ Riverwalk and Community Nursing Services. They provided both care and comfort to both Dad and his family during his short stay. They couldn't have been any better.

Reuel was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife Katharyn. His is survived by his daughters and siblings Carma, Lynn, Calliene, Brian, Bruce and Tamzom.

A celebration of his life will be on July 5th, 2017 at the Murray 5th Ward, 140 East 4600 South, Murray Utah at 10:30 am with funeral services to follow at 12 noon. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens, Sandy, Utah.
