Ray Glen Martineau, age 93, passed away on July 9, 2025 of natural causes with his wife Shirlene and daughter Vickie at his side.
An identical twin, he was born on April 13, 1932 in Colonia Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico to Leland Knowlton Martineau and Irene Brown. He married Shirlene Prestwich on November 10, 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Ray and his twin brother Reed arrived in the US in June 1950, five days before the outbreak of the Korean War. He attended Brigham Young University and graduated in 1955. While attending BYU he joined the Airforce ROTC Officer Training Program and served as an Intelligence Officer during the war. Ray was called to serve an LDS Mission in Argentina but was unable to serve due to restrictions during the Korean War.
Ray attended law school at the University of Utah. His successful studies earned him a place on Law Review while providing for his wife and growing family. He graduated from law school in 1960 with his Juris Doctorate Degree. He is well known in the legal profession for his work ethic and legal expertise, and for his honesty and integrity.
Ray served faithfully in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served several years on the Stake High Council and enjoyed many years teaching the Gospel Doctrine class. He especially enjoyed many years as Scout Master and loved taking his scouts to the sand dunes for fun with the motorcycles and sand rails.
