Nathan Mark Nelson, age 42, passed away September 14, 2018 in West Jordan, Utah. He was born August 12, 1976 in Murray, Utah to Mark Nelson and Jackie Bate.

Nate graduated from West Jordan High School and attended Snow College. He was an avid snowboarder and as long as he was outside he was in his happy place. He had an immense passion for music and enjoyed attending concerts with his friends. His happiest time of life was in Booth Bay Harbor, Maine as a chef and working at Wildflower at Snowbird and snowboarding all winter. He was an Eagle Scout. He loved to read, garden, camp, fly fish, hike and anything filled with adventure. He loved spending time with his family. Some of his great qualities included being courteous, kind, selfless and gentle. He enjoyed vacationing and being with his family and teasing and playing with his nieces and nephew.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Mark Allen and Cynthia Nelson, his mother Jackie Bate, his siblings Stephanie (Dan) Johnson, Brandon (Jodi) Nelson, Kristen Nelson (Victoria Severance) and Jonathan (Rachel) Nelson, his Uncle Norm, and 5 nieces and 1 nephew. He is preceded in death by his stepfather Max Bate.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing 1 hour prior at the River Oaks 1st ward located at 8825 South 1095 West, West Jordan, Utah. A viewing will also be held Wednesday evening, September 19, 2018 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the same location. Interment will be at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery located at 3115 Bengal Boulevard, Cottonwood Heights, Utah.

In lieu of flowers, family is accepting donations to help pay for funeral expenses.
