Marlene Louise Whitehead

d. January 20, 2018

1947 ~ 2018

Marlene Whitehead was born Marlene Louise Buda on July 19, 1947 in the city of Hollywood, California. Marlene moved often throughout her childhood but remained in the Los Angeles area through her high school years and early adult life.

Marlene married four times in her life. She was blessed in November of 1965 with her first child, Wendy and then in January of 1969 with her second child, Christina.

Being adventurous in spirit, Marlene wasn't one to stay in one place long. The exception to this was Lake Arrowhead, California where she lived for about 10 years. The mountains and their beauty was truly her solace and she loved it there. Marlene and Christina enjoyed a trip to Hawaii when Christina was in her teen years. As her daughters became adults, the three of them enjoyed many a happy hour together at the Jolly Roger in Anaheim. Marlene was a great cook and she would often boast of her culinary skills.

During her lifetime, Marlene moved often and lived in many states. She enjoyed time in Louisiana and Alaska, Fort Lewis, Washington, Arizona, South Carolina and Nevada. She lived in Washington and California more than once each. Marlene enjoyed a renewed relationship with Wendy during her time in Washington.

Wendy became instrumental in Marlene's life again when Wendy moved to Las Vegas to care for Marlene after Marlene separated from her husband and became gravely ill. Through the Grace of God and shear will, Marlene survived her illness and was moved after her recovery to St. George. Making many a friend at the places she lived in St. George, she also had a group of friends that she made at her frequent restaurant trips. But, through it all, she would talk almost daily of her daughters and grandsons. She truly loved them all.

In late March, Marlene enjoyed a trip to Las Vegas and spent the day with her family, enjoying lunch, some gambling, and yes, a glass of wine or two. During her final months of life Marlene enjoyed monthly visits to Mesquite to spend time with her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Mona. Wendy was able to join in a couple of times which added to Marlene's joy.

Marlene is survived by her daughters, Wendy Angle and Christina Hargett, Son-in-law Jack Hargett, three grandsons, Devon, Cody and Jake, her Brother Richard Buda and Sister - in-law Mona, Sister Jeannie Buda Landry and Brother-in-Law Sterley, nieces and nephews, and countless friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Florence Buda Redding.
