Marie Haws Cazier

January 14, 1931 — February 15, 2024

Marie Haws Cazier, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at the Rocky Mountain Care Center in Clearfield Utah. We wish to thank the staff at Clearfield Rocky Mountain Care for their kindness and loving care of our mother. They are amazing.

Marie was born in Newdale Idaho on January 14, 1931 to Leon Richman and Afton Driggs Haws. She was the 5th of eight children. She grew up in Newdale surrounded by many cousins and her extended family.  She loved living in the rural farming area and enjoyed many great family experiences there.

While living in St Anthony Idaho, she met her mutual teacher’s brother in law who had just returned from a mission in England.  He was handsome and very nice to her.  Their courtship was very short as he lived in Salt Lake City which was quite a distance away.  They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on January 19, 1953. During this marriage they were blessed with 3 sons, David Sidney, John Andrew and James Leon Barclay.  David and Marie lived for a short time in Saint Anthony Idaho and then moved to Salt Lake City after purchasing a home in Rose Park where they raised their three sons.

Marie's favorite things entailed being in the outdoors enjoying the beauty of nature.  She loved traveling and visiting the National Parks.  Because she could see the west side of the Teton Mountains from her yard in Newdale growing up, she had a special love for the Teton National Park.

Later, in 1982, Marie met and married Clyde Cazier on September 14th.  They lived briefly in Glenmore Village, South Jordan Utah.  Upon Clyde's retirement they moved to Hawaii for a year.  Marie loved her time there. When they returned, they went to Teton National Park and worked at Jackson Lake Lodge.  During this part of her life she enjoyed spending time with Clyde and meeting many new friends through their travels. They loved being in Wyoming and decided to build their new home in Star Valley Wyoming..

She is survived by her sons John (Shelly) Barclay, James (Christell) Barclay, thirteen grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leon  and Afton Haws, her son David, 2 great grandchildren and all of her 7 siblings  Marie was very close to her Mother Afton Driggs. We are happy to know they are together again.
