Marie Gay Straup Cardwell, age 57, died Friday, March 2, 2018. She was born December 18, 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Helen and Charles Straup. She married William Ray Cardwell June 22, 1979, marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
List of hobbies/accomplishments: most recently, temple attendance, family history, friend to all at Sarah Daft Home. Helpful- always serving others! Selfless. Member of DUP. In her youth she was a Girl Scout for a short time. As well, Marie spent many hours at Bonneville Raceway helping on the ambulance, where she became good friends with MANY in the racing community, mostly oval track, of Utah and Idaho. In high school she was a member of the South High School Social Arts Club: a compassionate service club.
Marie gracefully overcame the many trials, emotional and physical, that were set before her with pure love for our Savior! She has a firm testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She is survived by: her husband Bill, siblings: Debra (Ned) Callister, Karen (James) Card, Kevin (Shelby) Straup, Wendy (Kelly) Christensen, as well as "sister" Laura (Boyd) Schmidt. Father in law Rodney Wright, Bill's siblings: Randy, Mitzi, Rodney Jr, Rachel and Cindy and their spouses. Numerous nieces and nephews and their spouses as well as great-nieces and great-nephews!
She is preceded in death by her Father and Mother, brothers Terry, Todd and Baby Boy Straup, Mother-in-law Janet Cardwell, Brother-in-law Tom Cardwell and Great-nephew Spencer Callister.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 11:00 a.m. at Douglas Ward, 721 South 1200 East, Salt Lake City, UT, with a viewing on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. and 1 hour prior to service. Interment Utah Veterans Memorial Park, Bluffdale, Utah.
