Larry George Hulse

d. December 2, 2015

1950 ~ 2015

Larry George Hulse passed away quietly on November 29, 2015. He was surrounded by his family who loved him and we were able to say goodbye to him one last time.

He was born on August 6, 1950 in Ogden, Utah to Glen Hulse and Edna Pons. He was a life-long resident of Ogden and grew up with 3 brothers and 2 sisters of whom he was very fond of and admired a great deal.  He was an avid Weber State and Utah Jazz fan, and there was no better arm-chair quarterback to share stats, highlights and heartbreak.  He enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 30, 1969 and served 2 tours in Vietnam, where he was wounded in action and received 2 purple hearts and a bronze star. The war had a lasting effect on him, and haunted him for the rest of his life. He had a tremendous heart and sense of humor, but was never truly able to shake the "ghosts" from the Vietnam War.

He married Marina Fatemi on October 2, 1970 in Elko, Nevada, and they had 2 children. They divorced in 1980 and he never remarried. This was one his biggest regrets in life.

Larry, along with 2 of his brothers, followed their father into home and business construction, where he excelled as a master painter. He was incredibly skilled and technical and spent countless hours alongside his brothers, son, nephews and many other family members listening to music and building homes and businesses all along the Wasatch front. The Hulse family have so many stories to tell about the incredibly funny things and pranks that was part of Larry's personality. He was a natural comedian both by action and circumstance and we can tell countless tales for years to come. He has brought both laughter and sadness to our lives but we have more laughs than tears to remember him by.

He is survived by his daughter Maria (Nathan) Buhler; his son Nicholas (Lynette) Hulse and his 5 grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Edna Anderson; brothers, Johnny (Linda) Hulse; Dennis (Tamara) Hulse, Chris (Sherri) Hulse; sisters, Cheryl Hulse and Kaylene (Jeff) Williams. He is preceded in death by his father, Glen W. Hulse and sister in law Tamara Hulse.

A private memorial to honor Larry and to share some of his many tales will be held in the springtime for family and friends.
