Kelly Gene Seeley

September 12, 1964 — June 5, 2022

It was a sad day on Sunday, June 5, 2022. Kelly Seeley, age 57, passed away at 6:54 AM in
the St. George Regional Hospital. The cause of death is listed as metastatic melanoma with central nervous system involvement due to (or as a consequence of): obstructive hydrocephalus.

Kelly is survived by his daughter, Krista Ann Seeley Oeser Williams (Sean Williams, recently deceased). Krista shares these thoughts about her dad. ‘My dad is the guy people would go to have a no judgment conversation. That’s who he was for me. We could go months without talking, because… life, and the moment I’d call with a problem, he was there. He’d always ask, “Do you need to just vent or do you want advice?” Kelly was a great listener and advice giver. He created a life in St. George, full of lifelong friends. Costco was his happy place. Whenever I’d visit, we’d always need to go to Costco so I could meet his people and his friends.

My dad taught me A LOT! He taught me how to bowl, catch a baseball, ice skate and roller skate, throw a football, and how to hit a golf ball. He was a teacher in so many ways. He taught me how to be weird and not care what people thought, to be true to myself. I will cherish all the memories I have of him and the lessons I learned from him. Because of him, St. George is, and will always be, my second home. This past year was a challenging year for him but he fought his hardest to be here. Cancer sucks! I know he didn’t truly tell me what he was feeling on a day to day basis because he was trying to protect me. He didn’t want me to worry because I couldn’t come down to St. George this last year due to circumstances with my husband. In the beginning of his cancer diagnosis, we talked everyday for hours. He retired from Costco and found a new passion in financial advisory. He was so excited to help people succeed in life so they could reach their full potential and enjoy the world around them. My dad had the biggest heart for people.’

Kelly is survived by his mother, Patricia Ann Peterson Klein (James Klein). Pat was with Krista, Kaylene, and Kelly as he passed away. Throughout the night, she remembered so many times they had talked about sports. Both of them shared a passion for all sports and Pat is always happy to cheer on Kelly’s favorite teams, especially the Dallas Cowboys football team and Manchester United soccer team. Kelly loved fishing and mountain bike riding. His all time favorite spot to do both of those hobbies was Christmas Meadows in the Uintas. Pat loved, loved, loved the times she and Jim shared with Kelly and Krista at the Christmas Meadows cabin. When they were at the cabin, they listened to the Carpenters cassette tapes and played card games all night long. Kelly enjoyed playing golf more than anything. His very favorite pastime was playing golf with his buddies. He was so excited to be retired so he could play more golf. Pat now imagines Kelly playing a round of golf and making hole-in-one after hole-in-one on the 19th hole.

Kelly is survived by his father, Robert Seeley (Bonnie Seeley). Robert was one of Kelly’s favorite golfing partners (both of them very competitive too…just sayin’). Robert and Bonnie enjoyed traveling with their kids; Kelly, Kaylene, Claire, Lise, and Marc. They spent hours exploring the world around them. Kelly and Kaylene had so much fun growing up together and playing with their dad on the weekends. He showed them how to bowl, how to manage the bowling alley, how to swim, how to play baseball, basketball, and golf. Robert taught Kelly to be a gentleman. Kelly would always open the doors for ladies, speak kindly and politely, AND genuinely care about you.

Kelly is survived by his sister, Kaylene Seeley Ames (Glenn Ames). Kaylene had the life changing opportunity to spend a lot of time with Kelly the past year. She is so grateful to Gamma West Cancer Services where Kelly received his radiation treatments; and the offices of Dr. Te where Kelly received an extended series of chemotherapy treatments for melanoma cancer and esophageal cancer. Kelly was given an opportunity to contemplate his life during those long treatment days. Kelly and Kaylene made great plans!
Several times a day, Kelly envisioned doing the cancer free happy dance! You can imagine the joy and celebration on March 24, 2022 when he banged the cancer free gong at Dr. Te’s office. Seriously, one of the happiest days of life!

You may know that Kelly was a passionate sports fan! He was an amazing baseball player during his teens and early twenties. He began collecting baseball cards and football cards in the early 1970’s. His collection is extensive and includes many cards from the Dallas Cowboys. One of his wishes after beating cancer was to attend the NY Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys in Dallas on Thanksgiving, 2022 with his beautiful daughter, Krista, and his son-in-law, Sean, (after eating Chinese food, of course).
He spent hours cheering on his favorite soccer team, Manchester United. During some of his down times, it helped that he could imagine we’d fly to England, listening to the Kjr playlist to enjoy and celebrate the win of a hometown Manchester United game!
Kelly and Kaylene had opened a financial agency with World Financial Group. He was licensed and had embarked on the exciting path of bringing financial education and awareness to friends and family, helping others create lives of joy and abundance!

Kelly is survived by Nala, his adorable traveling sleek, black cat who has plans to continue traveling with her surviving companions, Krista and Kaylene.

The family wishes to thank ALL of the caring individuals at St. George Intermountain Regional Hospital. Kelly was met with immediate assistance in Emergency, operated on by the most amazing neurosurgeons, cared for by skilled, efficient nurses and staff in ICU, and watched over by several angels who are trained to help those in need. We appreciate all the efforts in helping us during our last days with Kelly. Our hearts are open and full of gratitude. Thank you so much.

Thank you to Affordable Funerals & Cremations for the kind and prompt manner in which they cared for Kelly’s remains. Kelly had instructed to be cremated and his ashes shared for scattering. Affordable Funerals & Cremations helped us with every step of the process and we are grateful.

To honor one of his specific wishes, his friends and family members are invited to participate in a 21-golf salute to celebrate the life of Kelly G. Seeley; son, dad, brother, uncle, nephew, friend. The celebration is scheduled at Sand Hollow Resort on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 10:00AM.
