Kalotia Siale Halafihi Mounga

Kalotia Siale Halafihi Mounga (Siale) age 64 of Lotofoa, Ha’apai, Tongatapu, passed away Thursday, December 07, 2023. She was born on November 23, 1959 to Aisea Vakalahi of Lotofoa,Ha'apai and Fanguna-i-Moana Halafihi of Pangaimotu, Vava'u. She is the fifth of seven children: Mosese Vakalahi Halafihi, Vika Heilala Halafihi, Sione Tupou Halafihi, Vaka Halafihi, Kalotia Siale Mounga, Saimone Manuma’a o Loto Neiafu Halafihi, Pakileata Langi Kioko Pilivi. She migrated to Hawaii in the mid 1970’s and married Hetueni Fehoko Mounga of Fotua, Ha'apai on the 18th of January 1978 shortly thereafter they migrated to Salt Lake City, Utah.

She enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She loved growing her own fruit and vegetable garden. Her favorite flower was Roses and Gardenia. A faithful woman of God and longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Kearns, Utah which is now located in West Valley City of which she was a Lay minister (Fefine Malanga) and served as a Secretary for the Tongan members for many years. She loved to glorify God by singing her heart out in her warm melodious Soprano voice in the church choir. She attended many family reunions – she loved family get togethers. She had the best Steamed Spice Cake (Puteni) and Pineapple Pie (Pai Faina) recipe in the world. She was a woman of great generosity in many ways that is too much to explain but a small snippet - she could be described by some as a collector of material things that still had great use, little did people know is that she would then export multiple barrels and boxes throughout the span of her lifetime back home to the islands: things that would make a difference in someone’s life whether it was clothes, shoes, dishes, blankets, foods such as flour, sugar, rice she made sure that everything was put to the benefit of not only her family back home in Tonga but the whole entire neighborhood. Apart from her migrating to a foreign land and creating life for herself, being a loving wife, a nurturing mother/grandmother, an amazing sister and aunty one of her most prominent life accomplishments was her 45 years of diligent, perseverance in loyal service to Swire Coca-Cola in addition to her family and church responsibilities. We salute you Mom and thank you for showing us what hard work ethics mean and how we can learn to live with what we have and at the same time show Christs love in faith and works.

She is survived by her husband – Hetueni Fehoko Mounga, her two sons: Aisea Halafihi Mounga ( Dr. Emanita), Moses Alo Mounga. Grandchildren; Aisea Marley Mounga, Mason Matias Mounga, Tevita Ramsey Mounga, Siale Isis Mounga and Malia Rose Mounga, her siblings: Vika Heilala, Sione Tupou, Saimone Manuma'a, Pakileata Langi Kioko and extended family.

Siale is preceded in death by her mother – Fanguna-i-Moana Halafihi, father – Aisea Vakalahi Halafihi, brothers Vaka and Mosese, her two sons Penoni Fehoko Mounga and Tevita Leimoni Mounga.

A Viewing/Wake service will be held Friday, December 15 2023 at 6:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. the family will then be with her from 12am-7am Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 16 2023 at 7:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church located at 3610 South 4400 West, West Valley City, Utah. Interment will be at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah in the Garden of Reverence at 2:00pm.
