Jeremy Alan Nelsen

April 19, 1973 — January 24, 2023

Jeremy Alan Nelson, age 49 passed on January 24th, 2023 in St. George Utah. He was born on April 19th, 1973 to Doug and Nola Vovak Nelsen in Yankton, South Dakota.
Jeremy graduated from Campbell County High School in Gillette, Wyoming in 1991. He never married and had no children. However, he had one nephew, Edison, who he treated as his own.
Jeremy had a heart of gold, was skilled in so many areas. He had a love of music and cooking. Jeremy worked as a cook his entire adult life. He worked for many years at Perkins in Gillette, Wyoming, then Carollo’s Supper Club in Mesquite, Nevada. He also worked for Playoffs and Peggy Sue’s Diner in Mesquite. Being a fantastic cook pizza was Jeremy’s specialty.
He inherited the musician skills of his Grandpa Nels. Jeremy began to play the guitar as a teenager, and loved his Gibson Les Paul. Jeremy was shy, until he got to know you. He was a loving, selfless, generous man, who would give his all to those he loved. He put a great deal of thought into gifts, and would always pick the perfect thing, even when it wasn’t a birthday or Christmas.
Jeremy could fix anything, and loved to take things apart and put them back together. He was successful in doing so (most of the time). He is also a wonderful artis. This became evident when as a child, he drew an extensive Batman mural, with black permanent markers, all over the wall. When he was a teenager, he drew the mascot, Eddie, from Iron Maiden on a lampshade, with four different versions of Eddie.
He loved his friends. They had many adventures. As a young man, he was a traveling Grateful Deadhead. Jeremy also had a punk band in high school, called What?! He was a rockin’ dude with the best hair in his teens and twenties. He had a great sense of humor, with a quick wit. He loved to laugh and was a major Star Ward fanatic, as well as Lord of the Rings. Jeremy was an avid gamer, and his favorite movies were fantasy/sci-fi, horror, and comedies. He was a huge fan of the Colorado Avalance and the Vegas Golden Knights.
Jeremy was a gift to this world, and we did not deserve him. Up until the end of his life, he put everyone else first. And himself last.
He is preceded in death by his father, Doug Nelsen, grandfathers, Nels Nelsen and Marvin (Red) Novak; his grandmother, Loreen Novak (Horvorka), stepfather, Ronald Richardson and his uncle, Terry Novak.
Survivors include his mother, Nola Novak of Mesquite, Nevada; sister, Stacy Vasques of Las Vegas, Nevada; nephew, Edison Vasques of Las Vegas, Nevada, grandmother, Bette Nelsen (Larson) of Yankton, South Dakota as well as many, many uncles, aunts and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
