Jeffrey Paul Mortimer

d. November 27, 2016

Jeffrey Paul Mortimer of Holladay, Utah passed away peacefully at home on November 4, 2016 at the age of 58 due to complications from pancreatic cancer. During his illness he was cared for with great devotion by his wife, Charlotte. The family thanks the hosts of friends, family, and professional colleagues who have reached out, donated generously to his cause, and offered their support in a difficult time.
Son of the late William James Mortimer and Paula D. Mortimer, Jeff grew up in Salt Lake City and attended Brighton High School. He served an LDS mission to London, England and married Charlotte Burton in 1980. They are the parents of three daughters and a son, and grandparents of six girls and a boy. After graduating from Utah State University in Marketing and Economics, Jeff spent his professional life at the law firm of Rulon T. Burton & Associates in Murray, Utah, working with his father-in-law, Rulon T. Burton, and his brother-in-law, Justin Burton, as paralegal and business manager. In 2011 he graduated from Thomas S. Cooley Law School fulfilling his longtime goal of becoming an attorney and was highly respected by fellow professionals during his years of legal practice.
Jeff was an avid cyclist and a masterful chef, and will be remembered as someone with a great zest for life who loved reading, learning, and trying new things. His cheer and optimism made him a beloved grandfather, and his social and professional skills made him an able advocate and mediator in helping hundreds of people solve difficult problems. He loved serving in the LDS church, and he modeled persistence and faith when facing difficult challenges. He leaves a legacy of joy that will be treasured and remembered by the many who knew his genuine warmth and heard his infectious laugh.
He is survived by his mother, Paula D. Mortimer; his wife, Charlotte Burton Mortimer; daughters Aisha Johnson (Brad); Emily Chipman (Devin); and Gabrielle Kim (Saint); and son, Kenneth Paul Mortimer (Kara). A viewing will be held Monday November 7, 2016 6:00-8:00 pm at the LDS Chapel on 4100 Camille Street, Holladay, Utah 84124. Funeral services will be on Tuesday November 8, 2016 at 12:00 pm a viewing held prior to the funeral from 10:45 to 11:45 at the same LDS Chapel.
