1945 ~ 2019 Jeffrey Frederick Porter passed away in St. George Utah on Monday May 27, 2019 at the age of 73. Jeff was born was born on December 21, 1945 in Summit, NJ to Frederick Charles Porter and Charlotte May Barnett Porter. He was married to Deborah Laura Porter on December 2, 1968 in the Salt Lake City Temple.

He was a graduate of the class of 1964 at Westfield High School in Westfield NJ. He graduated from Florida Technological University in Orlando, FL in 1977 with a BSEE degree.

He was employed as an electrical engineer for 42 years working in New Jersey, Florida, Utah and Pennsylvania. He retired in 2012 in St. George, Utah.

He is survived by his wife Debbie to whom he was married for 49 years. He had three children Jennifer Smith and husband Kenneth Smith of Clermont, FL; Jeremy Porter and wife Robin Porter of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Benjamin Duan-Porter and wife Dennise Duan-Porter of Eden Prairie, MN. Along with his children he is survived by his grandchildren: Jill Petersen, Ryan Petersen, Melanie Petersen, Elijah Pham, Lillian Porter, Jocelyn Stalker, Kameron Van Brittan Spencer, Eowyn Duan-Porter and Isen Duan-Porter.

In addition to his wife and children he is survived by his sister Janet Keller and her husband Clyde Keller of Newport News, VA.

Jeff joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1967 and remained active his entire life. He enjoyed playing the piano and organ for the church and also often attended the meetings in Spanish. He volunteered many hours and was often seen helping people in many different capacities.

He loved science, electronics and music. He played piano, organ, guitar and banjo. He was always creating in some way, whether it was making wind spinners out of plungers, writing songs or designing artistic light fixtures. He was often described as interesting or creative.

Jeff got his amateur radio license in 1962 and was involved in ham radio activities on and off including being active in the local ham radio club.

He enjoyed being outside and walked or rode his bike daily along the St. George trails.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 8, 2019 at 4pm at the LDS Ward Building 259 N. Mall Drive, St. George, UT 84790.
