Jacques Koncurat

d. September 7, 2020

1948 ~ 2020
Jacques Michel Nephi Koncurat, son of Marc and Germaine Koncurat, and husband to Monique Collignon Koncurat, completed his Earthly mission on September 4, 2020.Beloved husband, father, grandfather, neighbor, uncle, and friend, Jacques is survived by many who anticipate joyful reunion with him in the hereafter. Jacques is the youngest of four siblings, survived by Emannuella, Pierre, and Joseph. He is father of 5 children and four children-in- law: Candice and Brian Nichols, Shawn and Breanne Koncurat, Christelle and Mike Rogers, Cybill and Jason Teerlink, and Shad Koncurat. He isgrandfather to 19 beloved grandchildren who frequently vied for the best spot in the house, snuggled up to Grandpa, just as the generation before them had. To those aforementioned he gave his all without hesitation.
Born in Seraing, Belgium in 1948, his early childhood was highlighted by his family's faith-filled, adventurous immigrationto The United States. They were received with open arms in 1953 by a loving community in Draper, Utah where they laid down their roots. Jacques later returned to Belgium as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. There he was privileged to teach and baptize his grandfather, and formed many lifelong connections and friendships.
Studious and clever, Jacques was a Sterling Scholar at Jordan High School. He majored in Computer Sciences at BYU.He married his love Monique, and eventually opted for a career in construction, which allowed him to spend his days in the open air and sunshine, a career which he missed greatly when his body no longer permitted it.
Jacques worked hard all week and loved to play when the work was done. In his early adult years, Jacques enjoyed riding his snowmobiles in the undeveloped expanse of his state. As a young father he enjoyed trips to the amusement park, water-park, lake, and mountains with his family, a quick game of PacMan at the grocery store arcade, the Sunday morning comics, a good joke book, and singing along to the oldies. He was a true blue sports fan and loved his Utah Jazz. He loves God and his country, and enjoyed spending time involved in local politics.Jacques has a great love of music. His youthful bass voice was put to good use throughout his life in various church andcommunity choirs. He loved the camaraderie of his fellow choir members.
Jacques's hallmark characteristics are his optimism, good humor, humility, and his love of fellow man. No task was below him. He happily served where he was needed and was always present for the moments that mattered. Jacques, we miss you already.
