1931 ~ 2016
Hyrum LeRoy Oaks passed away peacefully February 27, 2016. He was born October 4, 1931 in South Montpelier, Idaho, the son of Victor LeRoy Oaks and Rozena Ann Nelson Oaks.
Hyrum served a mission for the LDS church in the Texas-Louisiana Mission from 1951-1953. While there, he met the love of his life, Dorothy Mae Fullmer, who was also serving in the same mission. Soon after being released, on June 8, 1953, they married for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Hyrum is survived by his devoted wife, Dorothy, and children Vickie (Brian) Bruderer, Debra (Don) Coe, Wayne (Glenda) Oaks, Adam (Diana) Oaks, Karen Heber, Diana (Leander) Pearson, Susan (Dana) Palmer and Joel Oaks.
Hyrum was always a hard worker and worked in the television industry when it was in its infancy. Hyrum began his career working for KUTV television in Salt Lake City in 1954 and retired in 1997 after working in the NBC network studios in Burbank, California, during which time he worked on the "Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" and "Days of our Lives". Hyrum also achieved his pilot's license with an instrument rating.
Hyrum and Dorothy have always been proud of their testimonies of the Savior, Jesus Christ.
Services will be held Friday, March 4, 2016 at the Ensign Stake Center located at 135 "A" Street, Salt Lake City, Utah at 11:00 am with a viewing at 10:00 am. A viewing will also be held from 6:00 to 8 pm Thursday evening at the same location.
Interment will be at Crescent City Cemetery.
