Glen Lowell Nelsen

d. January 26, 2021

Midvale, UT, Glen Lowell Nelsen, our beloved Father, Grandpa, Great Papa, and friend, returned to his Heavenly Father on Friday, January 22, 2021. He was born on May 30, 1924 to Mervin Alfie Nelsen and Eairmenta Hall in Murray Utah. He grew up with his parents and brother Lynn in Murray. After high school, he went to work in San Francisco for Pan American Airways. He proudly served his country in the Navy during World War II as an aircraft mechanic. After his service in the Navy, he returned home and received a mission call for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he served in the Eugene Oregon Mission. After his mission he began working for Addressograph Multigraph, servicing equipment. It was during this time that he met and married his sweetheart Nola Jensen, who worked for Utah Power and Light. They were married on Sept 17, 1952. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They built a home in Murray and started their family. They later moved to their home in Midvale, where they raised their three children and shared many happy years with friends, neighbors, and hosted many family gatherings. Glen worked for LDS church printing services until his retirement and took the opportunity to help his son Gary with his mailing business. He was an active member of the LDS church, serving in many callings. He had a vast knowledge of the scriptures and a strong testimony. He was the perfect example of enduring to the end. The last few weeks of his life he was starting to say that he might need to slow down some and maybe give up driving. Thankfully, that did not happen. He had a great love of cars and a passion for aviation. Flying and attending airshows with his son Gary brought him much joy. He was never quite the same after Nola passed in 2014 and although he enjoyed life and his family, he clearly missed her every single day. His love, wisdom, and work ethic will be felt for generations to come. He is survived by his children, Gary (Lynette) Nelsen, West Valley UT, Delene Nelsen, Taylorsville UT, Glen (Shelly) Nelsen, Taylorsville UT, and sister- in law, Anne-Lise Nelsen, Murray UT, 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. Along with special family friends, Don & Beverly Emery, whom he loved dearly. Proceeded in death by his parents, brothers, wife Nola, and many other family members who welcomed him home with open arms. Probably wondering what took him so long. Funeral services will be held Thursday January 28th at the East Midvale 4th Ward located at 87 East 7100 South, 84047 at 12:00 pm. A viewing will be held one hour prior. Masks and social distancing required. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E 10600 South in Sandy. The family wishes to offer special thanks to neighbors Vic and Jeanie Bergstrom for always being there for Glen and Nola.  It gave great peace of mind to know you were so close and always willing to help. Also, much appreciation to Breanna and Jenny with Encompass Hospice for their attentive care.

In compliance with Governor Herbert's mandate on facial coverings, face masks are required at all services. Social distancing will be enforced.
