Our loving mother, grandma, great-grandma, and aunt Frances Armalinda Casias (Martinez), passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 3, 2023 at the young age of 88 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Frances was born in Delagua, Colorado on May 4, 1934. She married Victor Casias and was later divorced. She moved to Salt Lake City, Utah with her family in 1956 and worked for many years at Eimco as a sewing machine operator.
She is survived by her six children, Dorothy Arellano, Karen Marconi, William Casias (Nancy), Julian Casias (Sharon), Daniel Casias (Connie), and Susan Casias; her grandkids Melissa Tracy (John), Benjamin Chacon (Carissa), Angela Burningham (Jared), Michelle Nelson (Christopher), Sarah Casias, Jesse Casias (Gineth), Mandy Shepard, Lynda Arellano (Matthew); great-grandchildren Meghan, Tafari, Matthew Jr., Rhyen, Brayden, Mikayla, Presley, Solei, Dahlyn, Sophia, Alexander, Tristan, and her numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents William Martinez and Eufracia Archuleta (Abeyta), siblings Andrew Martinez, Joseph Martinez, Agnes Vigil, Isabel Zavella Schnebele; son-in-laws Paul Marconi, James Arellano, and grandson Matthew Arellano.
She loved bowling at Rancho lanes, adored her cats and dogs and all animals. She loved gardening, crocheting, sewing, and all sorts of crafts. She was most happy when she was holding a baby. She loved playing with her grandchildren and eating watermelon in the backyard. She loved barbeques and loved having a full house of people and having a good time. She would always make sure you were well fed and had leftovers for the next day. Her chile verde, fried potatoes, beans and “bubblies” (fried bread) were delicious and will be missed by everyone.
The family would like to thank Symbii Home Health and Hospice and her nurses Tia and Chloe for the loving care they gave Frances over the last few months.
A celebration of life will be held for family and friends in the spring.
