Elaine Steimle Gartin, 80, passed away at her home in West Jordan, Utah, Monday, January 9, 2023. Elaine was born August 27, 1942, in Ogden, Utah. She was the second of four children born to Maxwell Stephens Steimle and Margaret White.
Elaine grew up in Malad, Idaho, where she had many fond memories. After graduating from Malad High School, Elaine moved to Los Angeles, California, where she attended Woodbury College. She graduated with honors from Woodbury with a Bachelor of Professional Arts. Elaine worked nearly three decades as an artistic graphic designer for a variety of companies, including, Sperry Corporation, Unisys Corporation, and L-3 Communications.
Elaine was an artist through and through, viewing the world through artist’s eyes. Her home was beautifully adorned with her artist works in oil, charcoal, pencil, and other various mediums. Elaine was also an avid gardener—she grew a wide variety of fruits, vegetables and flowers. She enjoyed dancing, singing, and hosting parties in her home and backyard for her family, friends, and neighbors. Throughout her life she also enjoyed knitting, sewing, and family history.
Elaine was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she held many service positions and served as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River and Oquirrh Mountain Temples.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, sister Georgia (Dennis) Archibald, and brother Dennis. She is survived by daughter Ronda (Steve) Lundberg, sons Randell (Jill) and Eric (Rebekah), brother Richard (Sharon) Steimle, ten grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at 11am. The viewing will be held an hour prior to the service (10am) at the Oquirrh 3rd Ward Chapel at 6673 South Clernates Drive, West Jordan, Utah. Interment at the Memorial Mountain View Cemetery in Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
