Dennis Neil Hawk passed away at home in Cottonwood Heights, Utah on August 15th, 2021 at the age of 78 after a difficult battle with Dementia.
Dennis was born on March 5, 1943, in Burley, Idaho to Harold David Hawk and Verl Thomas Hawk. He came from a large family with six siblings. Dennis moved with his family to Twin Falls, Idaho where he graduated from Twin Falls high school in 1961 and met the love of his life, Carol Anderson. They were married on November 7,1964 and have been loyal companions for 57 years. Dennis became a butcher and grocer and owned his own grocery store "Denny's Market" for 6 years in Twin Falls before moving to West Valley City, Utah. He continued to work in food distribution and inventory management for much of his career. In his retirement years, Dennis worked in the newspaper printing business at Media One. He retired officially at the age of 74 in 2017.
Dennis was known for his strong work ethic, sense of humor, kindness, and fairness to others. Throughout his life, he quietly helped those in need. Dennis sacrificed for his family as they were always his top priority. At one point, he worked three jobs to support his children on missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dennis will always be remembered as the charming host for family Christmas parties. Dennis moved to Cottonwood Heights, Utah in 1986 where he and Carol have lived ever since. Dennis was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in his later years. Dennis and Carol were sealed in the Mount Timpanogos Temple on December 29, 2016.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Carol Anderson Hawk, his children Jeffery David Hawk of Boston, MA, Jodi Lynn Miles (James) of Pocatello, ID, Jerry Neil Hawk (Julie) of Draper, UT, his nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren, and his brothers Steven Hawk, Scott Hawk and Joe Hawk.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Harold Hawk, Larry Hawk and Rhita Hackworth and his daughter-in-law Rosalind Hawk.
Services for Dennis will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brighton 4th ward, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 2895 Creek Road, Sandy UT 84093. Family greeting will be held prior to the funeral services from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
