Cynthia "Cindy" Joan Britt-Halacy

On June 11, 2016, Cindy earned her angel wings in Salt Lake City, Utah due to complications from cancer. She was 58 Years old.

Cindy was born on February 18, 1958 to James Alfred Britt and Dorothy Emily Buice Britt in Atlanta, Georgia. She was the second of their two children.

Cindy was a very gifted woman. While attending Roosevelt High School in Atlanta, she enjoyed singing soprano for her school and church choirs, writing for the newspaper, and playing on several sports teams.  She enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1977 and completed her service in 1980, due to starting a family.  She was always proud of being a woman in the military.  After leaving the Air Force, Cindy moved to Utah where she attended school at the University of Utah.  Her education and compassion for all people led her into a life of helping others, including people with disabilities.  Cindy made being a single mother look easy.  She proved the impossible could be done while:  attending school, working, and raising her three children all at the same time.

Cindy was preceded in death by her father James and mother Dorothy and also by many aunts, uncles, and her "Papa" Joe.

Cindy is survived by her three children, Jennifer (Jared) Blatnick, Holly (Curtis) Carter, Daniel Joseph Halacy IV, and six grandchildren, her brothers Edward (Sandra) Britt, Gary (Sandy) Jones, nephew Josh (Emily) Britt, and niece Amber (Brian) Heidle and their families.

Cindy will rest with her mother and father at Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain, Georgia. There will be graveside Services held upon her arrival there.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society or DAV (Disabled American Veterans) charitable service trust.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and health care technicians at the VA hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah for their care and compassion throughout Cindy's life. They would also like to thank Avalon Valley Rehabilitation Center and Brighton Home Health and Hospice for their care during Cindy's final days.
