Barbara Jean Dundon Stratton

January 27, 1938 — December 2, 2023

Barbara Jean Dundon Stratton passed away peacefully from natural causes on December 2, 2023, surrounded by her daughter, Kimberlee and granddaughter Kiarra.
She was born on January 27, 1938, in Monongah, West Virginia to Mary Francis Kuhn and Clarence Irwin Anderson. She was born and raised until age 8 in the family home on the side of a mountain in Monongah West Virginia. She used to carry eggs and pies from her grandmother and great grandmother down to the nearest store. When her mother remarried, they moved to Rootstown, Ohio, where she graduated from high school and lived most of her life.
She married Albert Pressly Stratton on September 26, 1959. She met Albert Stratton when he was working at the ice cream counter at a store in the neighboring town of Ravenna, Ohio. Their first year of marriage they were stationed in Hawaii. She loved being a Navy wife and following her husband on the rest of his 23-year Naval submarine career. After his military retirement they settled in Rootstown, Ohio in 1976 where she lived until 2013 when she moved to Meridian, Idaho to live by her daughter and granddaughters. Her husband passed away in 1998 and she missed him so much every day.
She loved her daughters, Kimberlee and Michellee, and sacrificed a lot through the years for them. She enjoyed machine embroidery, visiting or going to dinner with extended family members and her sister regularly, and collections, so many collections: dolls, several figurine collections, Hallmark ornaments, antique items, etc. She enjoyed going to antique auctions in rural Ohio and bought and refinished several beautiful antique furniture pieces for her home. She loved dogs and all animals. She was passionate about animal welfare, regularly donating to the local animal shelter and to animal charities around the world.
Barbara had a wonderful sense of humor that kept her going through many tough times in her life and kept those around her uplifted. She was a wonderful person who gave so much love, service, and sacrifice to many of her family members throughout the years to help ease their burdens. She leaves many precious memories with her daughters and grandchildren who will miss her dearly but are grateful that she has graduated on to heaven to be with Albert, and all her other loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert, her parents, her brother (Jack), her sister (Joan), and her son-in-law, Frank Louis Ballif.
She is survived by her daughters Kimberlee Jean and Michellee Dawn, and grandchildren: Tianna Jean Fuller (Travis), Kiarra Lynn Grover (Clayton), Liessa Kay Rothwell, Brietta Pressley Gilbert (Jackson), Frank Louis Ballif II, Taralee Dawn Ballif, and Seth Lynn Ballif, as well as her first great grandchild: Donovan Travis Fuller. The joyful memory of Donovan visiting her brought so much pleasure to her in the last months.
Memorial services will be held at a future time in 2024 so that her ashes may be laid to rest with her husband Albert, at Grandview Memorial Park in Ravenna Ohio.
